Terms & Conditions
Draft — subject to final legal review.
- 1
Eligibility
Participation is open to youth residing in the Sultanate of Oman. Each team member must be at least 18 years of age at the time of registration. Applicants under 18 require written consent from a parent or legal guardian, submitted to the organizers before approval.
- 2
Team composition
Each team must have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 members, including the team leader. The team leader is the primary point of contact and is responsible for submitting the registration and receiving all communications.
- 3
Personal data and ID uploads
Registration requires each member to provide a copy of a valid national ID or resident card. These documents are used solely to verify eligibility and are stored securely with access limited to authorized organizers. Data is retained until 30 days after the conclusion of the hackathon, after which ID uploads are permanently deleted. Team and idea data may be retained for reporting purposes in anonymized form.
- 4
Idea ownership
All ideas, prototypes, and materials produced by a team remain the intellectual property of that team. By submitting an idea, teams grant the organizers a non-exclusive license to reference the idea in event communications, reports, and promotional material, with attribution to the team.
- 5
Code of conduct
All participants are expected to conduct themselves respectfully toward other participants, mentors, judges, organizers, and venue staff. Harassment, discrimination, or any conduct that disrupts the event will result in immediate disqualification.
- 6
Mentor sessions
Mentor time is a shared resource. Teams are expected to arrive on time for booked sessions, cancel bookings they no longer need, and treat mentors with courtesy. Repeated no-shows may result in mentor booking privileges being suspended.
- 7
Organizer rights
The organizers reserve the right to modify the schedule, change venues, disqualify participants for breach of these terms, and cancel or postpone the event in the event of circumstances beyond their control. Decisions of the judging panel are final.
- 8
Photography and media
Participants consent to being photographed and filmed during the event, and to the use of their name, likeness, and voice in TEDx Shabab ST communications and reports, and in materials issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of the Sultanate of Oman.
- 9
Liability
Participants take part at their own risk. The organizers are not liable for loss, damage, or injury sustained during the event except where required by applicable law.
- 10
Acceptance
By ticking the acceptance box on the registration form, the team leader confirms that they have read these terms, that they have shared them with every team member, and that every team member accepts them.
